Hotspotter
Cooter, other sconnies:What's the tag situation in WI with the leftover permits.Last trip to the bar I had a turkey hunter from WI tell me that leftover tags were now over the counter there for the last few seasons, and fairly cheap, even for nonresidents?Clarification, press please?Joel
Cooter
This is the first year you can buy 'leftover' tags OTC. Previously, they'd just give you two tags but they figured out how to make money on the surplus. Also, they were supposed to be available March 10 at noon, but that got bumped to March 25 at noon, this Sat. Most units have tags available for the 5th and 6th seasons, you can go to WI DNR HSOforum and get all the zone, season, tag info. Once at the home page, look under "Current Issues" on the right side of the page - the turkey info is listed first. Prices are $10 for res and $15 for nonres. Hotspotter
Cooter:Thanks much! I think at $15, there'll be quite a few of us mud-ducks eating cheese curds late May.Thanks too for the info on where to find the info.Joel
Cooter
No prob - its a great opportunity and I personally like the later seasons anyway - I apply for 4th and then 5th seasons each year. If you or any other mud ducks decide to come over, let me know and I'll see if I can help put you on some beards.

strat-o-caster
I got drawn for the last season on Wisc... Why should I pay full price for a non-res if they are avaiable for 15???.... Strat
Hotspotter
Ha!I was wondering if this would come up! They've got themselves in a licensing/revenue pickle.$15 if still available for sure!Joel
eskay
Well guys, you've still got to buy your license and stamp. That's not included in the tag price. And the extra tags are going fast, only a few areas left when I checked yesterday.
Hotspotter
Knew it looked too good to be true. Tag price of $15 for NR permit, plus the $65 and change for the license and stamp.Joel

Cooter
Yep, did you post on WI forum awhile ago? If not I can pass some info your way.
Cooter
Oh, I forgot, zone 7 had a severe winter kill and all the longbeards have perished. J/K - should be plenty of opportunities for you - that 5th season is one of my favorites. You got a rangefinder? I don't and that almost cost me a hoss gobbler last year when the arrow went low - except I had the backup 870 in the blind with me
