I've never seen a marginal goal. It's either in or it's not. And they were all in.

What he meant was some of the goals should have been stopped easily like the GAME WINNING GOAL that I would have saved in my street clothes!!!!

Have fun at the Game... grin.gif

I know, however, one let down is understandable, but to play like that against the Huskies and then come out and stink it up like they did today? I know Lucia well enough to know he'll have them ready, but it's just surprising to see them come into the final five and not take it seriously. You just can't turn it on and off whenever you want to. One bad game this time of the year, usually motivates. Two in a row might raise some doubts. Their going to run into better teams than St. Cloud in the NCAA's.

This was written on a MN Gopher HSOforum, (not by me) I thought it appropriate to copy and paste as I feel about the same as how it is written.

I am going to keep it short because there is no need to write too much about the obvious. The Gophers did not pick a good weekend to play like dump. To say the least, the weekend was a major letdown for Gopher fans. I don't entirely fault them for a loss to Wisconsin after having expended so much energy to come back from a big deficit less than 24 hours earlier (In fact, I am not going to even discuss the Saturday game because 3rd place doesn't mean squat to me... no matter if it has NCAA seeding implications or not). What bothers me is what I saw from this team on Friday night.

I don't mean to take anything away from SCSU. They deserved to win the game on Friday. As the game went into OT on Friday, I told the girl I was with that I didn't honestly feel the Gophers deserved to win. Not with as lousy as they had played on defense and in goal. I guess I just have great expectations for this program and it bothers me when I see the team play so far under its potential. I give the guys credit for fighting back but if you bring your normal game to the table, you don't have to come back late in the game.

I hate seeing the Gophers lose at all. But I can reluctantly live with the times when the Gophers lose a game when they played relatively well. But when you lose a game like Friday night in which your team practically forgets one half of their game at home, it makes you mad. SCSU is not even an average team in the WCHA when it comes to offense. They are below average (7th in the league) and have mainly won games because of the play of their goaltender. So when you give up eight goals to an offensively challenged team, it should [PoorWordUsage] off the whole Gopher fan base.

Needless to say, the one saving grace of the weekend (and this is really reaching for a silver lining) is that the major goal is still within reach. The MacNaughton and the Broadmoor are nice to have but the big title is what people remember. This team still has a chance to achieve their biggest goal. Maybe if the players feel as angry as many Gopher fans do, we'll see an inspired team the next two weeks. This weekend can be rendered totally insignificant with four straight wins by the Gophers. But they are going to have to get their dump together and play to their capabilities. Because if they don't get angry about this and get their head on straight, they won't be winning any national title this year.
