Artificials for tip-up pike?

I will be north of the border fishing lakers next week and maybe some pike on the side. The water we will be fishing is no live or dead bait of any kind. Anybody ever use powerbait or gulp or something else like that on a tip-up/deadstick for pike? Any comments, suggestions, experiences would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A wind tip up with a big 6" power shiner or fluke should work. Maybe even a big tube jig on a wind tip up. I think you wil have to keep it moving. Who knows though they hit dead smelt on a tip up not moving. Maybe some power smelt?

Yeah, if we fish for pike at all I will be jigging with one line but may also setup a tip-up. I'm just wondering if anyone has used plastics on a tip-up. I'm sure not many have, but you never know. I'm just curious if anyone has any experience doing it. There's no need to use this approach unless you're fishing an artificial only area like we will be. I picked up some 6" gulp minnows that look like they could work. I don't have a wind activated tip-up but might have to pick one up, thanks for the idea northlander. I'll be giving it a try so I'll report back with results.

You might consider trying hot dogs on a quick strike rig. There were some guys posting about using hot dogs under tipups for pike out in the Dakotas. It might be worth a try! I have been watching pike in the spearhouse and some days those buggers will hit any object suspended in the water column.
