LABS4ME
We've had many, many great hunts mid-late september in the Selkirk/Petersfield (Oak Hammock/Netley Marsh) area of Manitoba. With that said I haven't hunted up there in around 10 years, but I can tell you there are plenty of Canada geese around, a lot of ducks (not fully colored), small grain fields are mostly harvested, bugs didn't seem to be an issue. Farmers for the most part were friendly and the marsh when conditions were right was phenomenal.Good Luck!Ken
wooduck26
Typically Non-Residents canmt hunt Waterfowl until about the last week in Sept if I remeber right.........I have hunted the Oak Hammock are and I wont be going back.....The guides up there have leased TONS of land, and hunters actually "reserve" their field a year in advance....its rediculous..........If you are dead set on going GO LATER!!!! Trust me go in mid Ocotber when the birds arent using the fields right around the Marsh........your permission odds will greatly increase, and youll actually shoot colored ducks..........seriously been there done that
huntingmaxima
Also try the Whitewater area. It is by the town of Boissevaine MB. I tused to be very good hunting. Lots of ducks and geese. It is a DU project. We used to just hammer the snows, and we would pass up on the ducks that would come into our spreads.
LovenLifeGuy
I hunt in the area around the city of mendosa, its about 2 hours nw of winnipeg. I go 2x a year once in the last week of sept and the hunting is great. like others have said the birds are real plain looking but they are everywhere. Tons of geese as well but at that time of the year you can only hunt geese until noon. We go again in late oct and the mallard and snow goose hunting can be great! We have never been told "no" we cant hunt on anyones land in the area. Some of the people I go with have been going for years and know many people around. Go and start make some connections with people, they all seem so happy to see us. Besides, it may be the last year you can go on your own without an outfitter. That would suckLovenLifeGuy
