GoodToGo
Anybody use the Mapcreate Canada 6.3 Topo for Lowrance? Thinking about getting it for my iFinder. Is the level of detail useful?
Mad Mulcher
I'm not sure what Mapcreate is and I'm not a gps know-it-all, but I can tell you what I run. I have an ifinder h2o with a card for lotw (that's mostly where I fish) and also a Freedom Maps topo card that covers all of northern Ontario and Manitoba and that works great for navigating in the middle of nowhere. Is Mapcreate something fancier I need to know about?
BobT
On the subject of Canadian topos, does anyone know where I might be able to obtain GPS topo maps for Lost Lake, near Hudson, Ontario that would be compatable with my Garmin GPSMap?Thanks,Bob
GoodToGo
Well, for an update, I did get the mapcreate canada. I am satisfied with the level of detail, it is essentially the same as looking at a paper topo map. I have not been able to have mapcreate USA and mapcreate canada on the same card at the same time however, the usa seems to override the canada maps and the details disappear. Not a big deal, I will contact Lowrance and see if it is fixable.I don't know about about options for Garmin, I'm a Lowrance man.

Canuck
Bob TI purchased the Garmin Topo for Canada and it is Great. I use it on my Garmin and down load the specific area when moving into a new area. I do not know where U are but check directly with Garmin. GoodToGo
I bought it on line for $75. The level of detail for all of canada is like a paper map, but I will double check Nipigon tonight and let you know tomorrow for sure.

GoodToGo
Nipigon looked to be the same level of detail as the rest of what I've seen. I've never been there, so I can't tell you how it compares to reality but for a map I think it's pretty good. No depth contours, just land map and topos. GoodToGo
One last follow up - i did get an email back from Lowrance that told me Mapcreate USA 6.0 and Mapcreate Canada 6.3 are not compatible. They have to be run on separate cards, or you have to switch them out if you only use one card. They even recommended against having both apps installed on the same computer at the same time. I have both on there with no problems. just an FYI...
