hanson
I was thinking about it but I understand the registration deadline has past. Knowing that there is always a waiting list, looks like I'll be waiting for next year. So who's fishing the tournament? Who wants to partner with me for next summer?? Please submit catfishing resume to myself.
rushing
Cats incredible might not be too bad, but boy i hate what the local tourneys do to the river around here.

I agree. From what I understand about Cat's Incredible, mortality rate is not bad although I could be misinformed. All fish have to be brought to the weigh station in large rubbermaid containers or coolers full of water and the fish must be alive. The Red River Catfish League does the same thing as well. They don't end up at some bar for display.
Ihateriversnags
I guess I have never been around the tournament series at all so I am kind of in the dark about what they do to the rivers. What are we talking about? Do they negatively affect the waters during a tourney?
hanson
Jason- The "catfish contests" held down on the Minnesota River are much different from the Cat's Incredible in Grand Forks. I don't think there is a flathead angler around who will agree with the "contests" down here. I don't have firsthand experience with the contests but have heard enough negative things to be aware of what happens and I don't like it. But what can you do when it is a big summer event for a small town?
Ihateriversnags
very true Chris, I guess being up in this area and hearing about cats incredible I am (spoiled) Although I have not fished the tournament either, I hear great things about it from our wiskered friend LOL (although lately he has shaved off all the wiskers and i'm not able to tell him from others anymore. rushing
Between rumors of cheating, the tons of garbage left on the river and the way the fish are handled I won't have anything to do with the ones around here. I like the idea of tourneys but the ones ran around here are very hard on the river and on the serious fishermen who have to fish the areas after it. It's insane the stuff people leave behind. Ihateriversnags
Ya know it's funny you should mention "the stuff left behind". I was walking down by the local river last summer and I had to go home and grab some garbage bags. 3 bags of garbage later (which I took down to the transfer station free of charge) I had a small area cleaned up. I could have taken more time but work got in the way. Now whenever I am down fishing I try to bring a garbage bag with me. Not only to clean up all of my dump but also to pick up after those who choose to dirty our little fishing playground. Not a bad idea but shouldn't have to be done by the rest of us who actually pick up our stuff. (always seems to be the ones who don't leave dump who end up picking up all the stuff)Sorry about the rambling guys
CatManLee
I'm fishing Cats Incredible this year...I HOPE! I didn't place in the top 15 last year, so...it's up to the lottery system and luck of the draw now! I will know for sure next Tuesday (3/9/06) at the Catfish League Banquet in East Grand Forks. They draw for the teams that night. My entry form is in, now I just have to wait and see.
Steve Foss
Wish I was back there sometimes. First year I fished it, my pard and I were top 10 after day one but slipped back on day two. Finished in the money, tho. Second year we finished out of the money but did not go out of our minds. All the years I spent fishing down by the rivers in GF/EGF I always brought a garbage bag. It doesn't take a tournament to bring out the litterbugs.
