muskiebayresort
Fishing Conditions" With another weekend upon us I have been out fishing again. The trout picked up today and we landed 5 this morning with several others getting away with sore mouths. We went over to Stevens Bay for crappies again in the afternoon and it again was great. It has been good for the last few weeks but with the cold front they got finiky and it took some more paitence to hook the many that we were marking. I did best with small ratsos with a spring bobber but others were doing good with small teardrops and gulp maggots. For trout I was using Jigging Shad Raps and also white and glow tubes. I found many small perch and shiners inside the trout stomachs so trying anything with shiner or perch colour combinations would be effective. The thermometer is supposed to be rising for the rest of the weekend and continue to rise by early next week. The ice conditions are great. Crow has 14-16 inches of ice on the main parts of the lake with 6 inches of granular snow cover. I didnt find any slush at all. Lake of the Woods has nearly 24 inches of ice in most places with some spots near 30 inches. The trail to Hay Island is in great riding condition. The trails to Otterskin and Rowan are also in good condition. Hope everyone gets a chance to come up and do some fishing. And remember to feel free to call and get up to the minute reports. Down Deep
Is the trail from Camron to Otterskin open. I was up a couple of weeks ago and it was blocked by deadfalls? We had to go by road which we found out we weren't supposed to do.
