Regulator

Ragenald

Question

I have a perm that has about a 30,000 btu propane heater in it. Recently, there hasn't been enough propane getting through the line to light the thing, only the pilot. So I thought I would replace the regulator. I went to home depot and the guy there told me that one made for a bbq grill would work for this. He didn't really look like he knew what he was talking about. Obviously, I don't know much about this stuff. Any suggestions?

You will be fine using a BBQ regualtor. I replaced mine about 2 years ago and have no problems. The regulator is just to drop the psi to a usuable amount. If you are having problems with gas flow make sure your tank has not frozen and make sure your connection to the tank is on tight. I have had that problem many times that the connectin is not tight enought.

Make sure you get a 2-stage regulator, they are only around $10 more and they give more pressure when the tank when it is low and its very cold out. The small BBQ regs will not work as good, you will be refilling the tank earlier then you need to.
