Duluth shore fishing

Does anyone know if I can catch lakers from shore in the spring right in the Duluth area. I have friends at UMD and I need something to do during the day if I go up there to to see them in the spring. How should I fish them? I would think that there would be some good shore and pier fishing around the canals and nearby shores. Thanks for any info! -Prodigy

you're best bet for shore fishing in duluth in the spring would be to go after loopers or cohos around the french river area. if you have your heart set on lakers however, find any major point jetting out into the lake and cast spoons, another option for lakers would be the breakwall in two harbors, there is a lot of info on shore fishing in the duluth/bwca forum, just do a search or repost this question and we'll be sure to help you out.
