Bottomline Transducer washing out

JMK

Question

I was hoping to get a little feedback on my transducer problem. I loose my screen as speed increases to the point where nothing is displayed when at cruising speed. This has been ongoing since I bought the finder. It's a BottomLine Tournament Master HR. The transducer is huge compared to others I've seen and used (IE Eagle, Vexilar). I've moved it all over with the same ultimate result. The finder that came with the boat never lost it's screen/signal at any speed - even WOT and I'm thinking of putting it back and selling my BL. Any ideas, advice, words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The same thing happened to me when I got my new Ray Marine; blank screen at high speeds. I will bet the transducer is not at the correct angle. I adjusted mine, and that seemed to fix the problem. I know this sounds elementary, but go to the owners manual, (which is what I had to do) and make sure it is installed accordingly.

Good luck,

Say, do you know anything about installing impellers on outboard motors?

I've looked at the install guide and thought I had done a good job with the correct angle and placement. Obviously not. I'll check again and experiment some more. I've had someone suggest siliconing it to the transom to plug any turbulent water from rushing past it to the top side of the transducer but wanted better results at faster speeds before doing that. Sorry, no experience with impeller.
