Vikings center Matt Birk said Thursday that he would be ready to play if the season started today. "I'm ready to go right now," Birk told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I'll never know until I get out there, but that's the way I feel." Birk missed the entire 2005 season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left hip.

This is certainly good news for the Vikings, as Birk is arguably their best offensive lineman, not to mention one of the leaders of the team.
