trolling motor

slabberknocker

Question

I have a trolling motor on my new boat and this is the first trolling motor I have owned. The problem I am having is that I have to push really hard on it to deploy. Do I need to put some type of lube on the shaft in order for it to deploy smoothly. If I do, can anyone recommend what I use on it. Thanks

Slab

Try some WD40. Thats what we do on our boat.
Just spray it on and whipe it all over the shaft with a rag. You wont believe how slippery it will be.

So its hard coming out of its cradle.
That normal and after you get used to pushing it out and lowering it in one fluid motion you'll be doing it like the Pros. smile.gif
Every time I get a guy in the bow and ask them to lower the motor they struggle. Sometimes it easier if I just get up and do it myself. LOL

try dusting polish like pledge or something similar it has wax in it h**L use lemon scent to top it off(jk). seriously, it works and also try it on the boat itself to keep down on the water spotting. Good LUCK!
