Nova
Picks, 3 of us got drawn for season A. With this super mild winter and our harvest numbers very low last year there should be a herd of Toms around. I'll tie one to the berry hut for Matt. My older brother is coming with to help thin the coyotes also.
picksbigwagon
Matt and I called a coyote in last year when we were trying call in a tom, maybe you should try deer calls or elk calls and see if the toms race in
brittman
Of course each area on MN is unique, but overall expect fewer 2 year old Toms this spring. The jake harvest in 2005 was very low. The biologists translate this to a very poor hatch in 2004 - remember it was wet and cold.Unsure what 2005 hatch was, but I guess that is not a factor for me until the 2007 season. Hotspotter
I've called in a coyote almost every year except last year. Some years I've called in a few. They seem to sneak up on the deke, and spook after they get within 10 yards of the thing and it doesn't run away.Joel
picksbigwagon
here is an idea, pump those things full of number 4's the turkey's won't come anywhere near you if they see a coyote
Hotspotter
Always been leery to do that. Birds I'm working in the nearby woods won't come near me if I plaster a 'yote either.....especially if it's not a good shot.Any other opinions? Do you guys kill coyotes that come in?Joel
Nova
I haven't just because I worry about spooking birds, but have been very tempted.
