Lx-3tc Questions Cont.

That was one of the things that some MarCum and Vexilar switch over customers wanted was a narrower beam ducer for applications such as yours, not an overwhelming majority but a few. New customers waited for the dual beam LX-5 before making the move but what I wan't to know is this, "How did they know to wait? or "Did they just guess right?" Unfortunately it is a guessing game for Joe Q consumer, a roll of the dice to buy right now or hold off and stick with what you have and wait. Most of us do not have a crystal ball unfortunately.

I just bought this unit like 3 weeks ago. I guess I should have stated that it was the LX-3tc. Like I said I could have gotten the 5 but the guy where I bought it said the 3 was all I needed. I will just go back and see if I can upgrade. I believe it is a good unit, but Maybe I just expected to much from the 3. My bad!

Thanks Tim

The LX3TC is a great unit! Franky and Tuzzy are my buddies and own them, and they fish the same under 40' stuff I do., Panfish reign here in central new york for the most part. The best all in one package for 3 color flashers is the LX-5, it's just flat out sick!

Let me know when you have that 5 in your hands and you'll see the differences immediately.

I definitely agree with you about expectations and companies following through but you knew full well prior to your puchase that the MarCum LX-3 came standard with a 20 deg. transducer at least I hope you knew. Before the LX-5 came out if you asked me if you fished tight cover most of the time, steep drop off's, or over 160' of water I would have told you the 9 deg. that Vex offers would have been my choice.

The guy whom sold you your unit did not do his job and that's half the problem is that sales people are not educated enough to recommend anything and sales bias is everywhere. Especially at a local Gander Mountain here the guy whom run's it is so pro Vex it's sickening, the guy doesn't know jack about flasher's for instance he sold a friend of mine a defunct LX-3 and he promptly returned it and asked for another LX-3 and they didn't have anymore in stock and the only store in NY state that had it was the Watertown store 2 hours north of here. Thank God he didn't take his advice about settling for the FL-18, he knew what he wanted for his son and drove 2 hours north up to Watertown to get it! The kid loves his TC and fishes all the time on Delta and is a very good fisherman. This kid is 14 years old and he knew. MarCum did great for us out east with the LX-3 and continued it's march to excellence with the LX-5.

CM take it back to him and ask him what is the difference between the 20 and the 8 degree transducer? I'd be interested in his answer.

Get the LX-5 you'll thank me later... wink.gif

Tim,

To be honest....I guess I never really thought about the 20 degree cone. I guess I never read anything on here talking about not being able to see the bottom. I just figured that the 3 would be set up to cover the most water, and I wouldn't have to worry about it. I tried to read everybodies posts about Marcum on here I could find. Maybe I missed it, or it didn't "click" but whatever the case, the 3 was not for me. I spent more time trying to get it working right, and less time fishing.

Well, the baby is waking up....gotta go! grin.gif

Babies cryin ... Oh CM been there and done that with 4 of my own. It's very hard to know the in's and out's of flashers when you got little ones and honey do list's that compounds your research time to get the most complete and acurate information, but I sincerely think that Fishing Minnesota is revered as the #1 site on the web for flasher information. Some sites I won't mention don't want the truth because they can't handle it and will criticize the poster but not the facts. The truth is when it comes down to flasher's Fishing Minnesota has been ahead of the learning curve more so than any site on the web, over Ice Shanty and Ice Team. We have sonar experts here that grind em out, decipher the information in acccordance with Quality, Value and performance and even if MarCum was not a sponsor here the LX series of flashers would be our choice hands down.

CM - I just hope that you can get your situation taken care of quickly and if you run into any problems with the sales guy contact me personally, I'm here for you!

On a side note the FL-28 better impress me or I will hammer the heck out of people that promote them or pick them up as a sponsor.. I swear that! If I get kicked off that site than so be it but I wil never hide from the truth.

Stick with me you guys I have been on this thing with sonars for 3 years and Fishing Minnesota was the first to get it right!!!

    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
    • Chef boyardee pizza from the box!
    • Or he could go with leech~~~~~
    • Bear can relate too. Tell Leech to start a new account named Leech5, we'll know who he is.If he has any trouble, Bear can walk him through it.
    • Blessed Christmas to all.
