Another h2oc/lakemaster question. As for the EPE, Is 16ft the best I can expect? Mostly hangs around 30ft and seems to be always off in the same direction. (north west) As far as driving I'm always off roading. lol Also will I always have to comp this when on a lake. Also WAAS looked good.

I guess the way everyone talked about the lakemaster I expected way too much

Thanks

With my H20C the best EPE I've seen is approximately 25' but WAAS was intermittant. In my boat the X-15 with a good WAAS signal will get down to that 16' EPE you mentioned. I've yet to see much better, but that's pretty darn good nonetheless.

Accuracy's are much better than the listed numbers.

I would say 6-10 feet.

Dose that account for 16ft of error at best? or are you talking meters? 16ft is still alot. Not complaining about it, I just expected it to better from all the posts I've read.

I don't think it should be called hype, but if you've been around personal GPS units for a while you'll call a 15-20' EPE as "right on" as many refer to. Think of how far 15' really is....not that far. That's close enough to get you in a pretty good radius of the spot you're looking to find or knowing where you are at based on a map loaded into the GPS.

If you were fishing on a sunkin log and made a waypoint on that spot, the current technology won't assure you of coming right back to that 1' circle above the log. It just doesn't work that way right now. Even the waypoint you make on that spot won't be right above the log due to the EPE. let alone coming back to that spot. The longer you leave the GPS stationary, the more accurate will be when you make that waypoint but it'll still have some error. Only the expensive surveying equipment that is availabe will get you within inches of EPE or even less.

My first GPS (Global Map 100) would give me a 45' EPE on a good day and that was after selective availability was "turned off". That particular unit didn't have WAAS capability and it was the best it could do. Now with WAAS units the error has been cut to 15' or so and that is darn close for me.
