sled for clam 5600 and 6800's

My buddy and I were going out this weekend to a spot that involved a long hike acroos the ice.pulling our 6800 would have been a chore but we used a sled made of cross country skis and 2x6's and 3/8th plywood. Effortless pulling!! what else have you guys used to reduce the strain of pulling these type of house out ?

We had an old 7 Foot toboggan in the family. We split it right down the middle to make two ski like shapes; we then built a lightweight frame out of pine that tied the two together and my 6800 sat on. I also built a box that sat on top of the 6800 when traveling or being pulled it was held in place by the lip on the floor of the 6800. I made several compartments that held the auger, rod bag, flasher, minnows and what ever else you want to pack along. It works great.

we tried water skis first but they seemed to drag on the snow the cross country skis dont. Also use milk crates ty wrapped together to store equipment.

Can you post poic or email me. I have a Clam 2000 and would just have to down size your plans. It is a pain trying to get all my gear out on the ice without it tipping over.

I tried to look for some pics to display on my original post. I could not find them at that time, but will look again. I don’t have these items in my possession here in Alex right now they are in southern MN, so I cannot take new pics. I’ll see what I can find.
