Pike locations

I was wondering if anyone knows somewhat of a pattern that bigger Northerns stick to during winter. I've checked several depths on different lakes known to have norts in them but I can't find any with size to them. Are they really shallow in the morning and work their way deeper as the day goes on, or are the big ones strictly staying in really deep water? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You have to go to McDonalds! crazy.giflaugh.gif Big fish eat big food, and they hang out where the eating is easy. As humans we go to McDonalds for an easy meal so where is the McDonalds in your lake? Red lake the food is everywhere so the pike wander aimlessly looking for food, in deeper water lakes you will find pike hanging off of strong structural breaks near deeper water picking off ciscoe and small whitefish. As for a "normal" lake, 1000 acres with weeds up shallow and a deep hole of thirty feet or so I would look to the strongest weedline that is closest to deep water just out from the sunnie fisherman...the drive through. wink.gif

HECK YA! I run around like the Hamburglar ~"rubble rubble"

I have to hand the torch off to another angler that used Cheerios at breakfast to describe Upper Red Crappies after I did the McDonalds bit. wink.gif
