IR vs Full Spectrum lighting

dieguy

Question

I am going to be buying an underwater camera soon and am researching what the best option for me would be. I was wondering what you all felt about the lighting options with the various cameras. How much better are the full spectrum lights vs the IR lights. I have heard they are much better especially at night and in murky water. Is there really a huge difference justifying the extra cost or is it just a little better and not really worth it. thanks for your opinions,

DG- the IR lights are not the best, they may help you out a little at the dusk parts of the days, but that is about it. The SR lights(LED) are much better in clear water at night. HOWevfer, you get in murkey water and they are all worthless, all they do is reflect back the particles. I have a Scout XL and love it, but I dont expect it to do more than it can. I only use it during daylight hours and in clearer lakes.
