Fish house trailer license?

This is an old topic but someone told me that if you can haul a 4 wheeler in your fish house it is considered a utility trailer and needs a utility trailer lic not a fish house lic, any thoughts?

it used to be that way. i am not sure now. but when i built my fishhouse only trailer i was told that if it was just for the fishhouse and i did not have any equipment in there is was not nesessary. but if you have equipment in there it has to be tagged the liscences are not all that much. and are permenent. but a quick phone call to the dmv would answer all questions for you.

I dont know the answer but isn't a perm licsense around $27 for a trailer? I would spend the money for it and eliminate the confrontation with the law if it comes to be an issue.My luck the time they would waste giving you a lecture and possibly a citation would be prime time fishing.Who knows? if having a permanant licsense on it would be a selling point when you decide to sell it to someone who hauls alot of other stuff.Just my opinion.

This is an interesting issue.

I don't know if DNR can help much.

Problem is permanent ice shelter is regulated by DNR, trailer is regulated by DMV, you might have to check with them too.

Honestly to be on the safe side I would just license it also as trailer, it's approx $ 25.00 for lifetime, and you have peace of mind.

I rather spend the extra money than argue with a Law Officer on the side of the road to find out who's right.

Other issue:

I wish they'd do like Wisconsin, Michigan, etc where they eliminated trailer licenses unless above 3000lbs.

There are too many and it's a hassle.

I even had to take a boat trailer to DMV inspection since title was marked Salvage (didn't have any damage, but was bundled with boat), they guy was laughing hard.....
