Auger blade question

About 8 years ago or so, I purchased a Strikemaster LazerMag. That's all it says on the auger. It really needs a new blade, bad! I did some looking around, and the blade that comes in the box for a LazerMag 2000 is the exact same shape (and size I think) as the one on my auger. Although it is the same shape and maybe same size, would this blade work on my auger?

It should be...that style was the chipper blade and I'm sure the Strikemaster Lazer Mag is the same as the Strikemaster Lazer Mag 2000. Just make sure it is the same size (8", 10", etc.). I would double check with Strikemaster though. You can get their phone number off their HSOforum and call 'em up.

The blades are the same. The Mag 2000 was a newer slightly updated model. That blade fits all the way back to the OPE models. Last year I finally got rid of a 15 year old OPE. Just before it went away I put a re-sharpened Mag 2000 blade on it. The Mag 2000 blade was identical.

Thanks for the replies fellas! I thought it might work, but thought I'd ask around before purchasing. I've got a 10" blade which is really getting dull. Last year to cut through 18" of ice it would take a good 60 - 90 seconds or so, and that was with the full weight of my body pressing down on it. Looking forward to getting a new blade....I can't remember what it was like anymore to drill holes with a good blade! smile.gif

Thanks and happy holidays!

I replied to your other post as well. I see now that you have the chipper blades. Replacing the chipper blade with new is going to be the most economical way to go. It will greatly improve your cutting as well.

However, I mentioned an "upgrade" in your other thread. You can get an entire new auger assembly with the new style Lazer blades for around $120 for an 8". You will get all the benefits of owning a LazerMag Express auger without having to pay the $369 price tag for it. Food for thought...
