0 Trouthunter
They are heavy. What would you be using it for? They look pretty sweet.
0 Fish On! Guide Service
Those look like outstanding units, and here I thought my Old Town canoe was nice. I can't imagine using a 40hp motor on a canoe though. Yep, you read right. Their 16ft canoe is rated for a 40 H.P!!!!!!!! Whaddaya think? 60-70 mph in a canoe? 0 BradB
Yes, what do you want it for? There are many different models of canoes that meet different needs.
0 Mr. Nailz
We have had one for about ten years now. As mentioned they are heavy. It is by far the most stable canoe type boat I have ever ridden in. Depending on the model they can be hard to paddle due to the width. I wouldn't trade it for any other canoe due to the stability. You can stand up and jump around without worrying about tipping it.
0 dukhntr
Rangered: I have also had a Gheenoe for about 10 years. I think I may have bought one of the first ones sold at Burger Brothers in Bloomington. The salesman did not know much about them. As others have said, they are heavy. I think my original Gheenoe weighed 120lbs. I shortened mine to 12'9" 2 0r 3 years ago to make it easier to load and unload. I think it now weighs about 105lbs. Another point, the extreme stability comes at a price---these are not "paddling canoes" ---you do not want to take this canoe into the BWCA. It will paddle fine for duck hunting or other short trips. However, even my shortened version is the best duck boat I have owned, bar none, and I have owned at least a dozen of them. You can use a motor, oars or paddles. As others have said, it is extremely stabil, and I can hunt two hunters, 3 dozen dekes, and a dog from mine, and no one except the dog gets wet. Also, they sit low enough that it is easy to get the dog back in. We have had situations where both hunters stood to shoot, and have the dog going out of the Gheenoe at the same time. No mishaps! Hope this helps.Dukhntr.
0 Woollman99
Depends on your purpose and use for a Gheenoe. These are sweet floating canoes/boats, however, they have limited dealers handling them. If fishing is your main objective, be sure to take a look at a River Ridge canoe. I have one and just love it. They are smaller and much lighter than a Gheenoe and easier to paddle. These are very stable canoes and are made in MN by a small company.
