J Smith
Ok...but if you tell anyone I'm going to have to steel your favorite fishing spot. 2 cups flour 2 teas. salt 2 teas. baking soda 3 tabls. sugar 1 qt. buttermilk 2 eggs Sounds easy hugh? The key to these beauties is that you have to let your buttermilk sit on the top of the fridg overnight, it has to be rotten. I'm telling ya these things are great! If you like real fluffy p-cakes you can add 1 tsp. baking powder. Feel free to mix in a handful of Blueberries or Strawberries, heck even chopped Pineapple or Banana's. If you add any of these, top with a pat of Butter and some Karo syrup. Some times a tsp. of vanilla extract and a little whipped cream is good too! I prefer the original recipe/w Blueberry syrup. Oh...360* pan. J.S.
BLACKJACK
J, I'll have to try this, it looks simple enough, it fits my recipe requirement of 'less than 8 ingreidients'. I eat cereal every day during the week, so on the weekends I like to have something different - waffles, pancakes, french toast, eggs. And I have to admit, using the bisquick recipes is fast and easy.
J Smith
Hi Blackjack; It would'nt be the worst thing you couuld do.I think this recipe has been handed down for about 100 years now. The flapjacks are very thin and rubbery and for 2 people you can cut the recipe in 1/2. These are the best things since sliced bread...I have another recipe for a pancake called the Clairborne Cake thats extremely good too.Try the Buttermilk cake and if you like it I'll post the Clairborne Cake.Bona!J.S. eribac
J Smith - you sure about that quart (4 cups) of buttermilk to 2 cups of flour? That would make a very, very thin batter. Thin enough to make crepes!
J Smith
It will be JUST FINE. Consider how thick Buttermilk is. Give it a shot you won't be disapointed.
BLACKJACK
J, tried your recipe this weekend and it was very good! A nice change from the fluffy pancakes that you get out of most mixes. Nice part was that I didn't even have to make them. My wife saw your recipe that I had printed out and left on the table, picked up the buttermilk, and made them Sunday morning ! The recipe does make a lot of pancakes, next time we'll probably cut it in half.
