cedarnarrowsguy
Just wondering how the ice situation is looking so far up on the Manitou? It was a tough go last year with lots of slush/snow in January. Planning on a trip again late January. Are they geeting a lot of snow again? Any info would be appreciated. superbee
I have heard that there is already snow and alot of slush popping up all over the place and they are getting more snow daily and the temps are still pretty warm.
cedarnarrowsguy
Not Good! I'm hoping for a early January thaw followed by cold I guess. Thanks!
superbee
I'll let you know if I hear any updates on the conditions. Where do you stay when you go up? Do you mainly fish the Manitou or other lakes?
cedarnarrowsguy
Superbee....Thanks for the update. Let me know what else your hear or experience up that way. I've got a cabin off the cedar narrows rd and like to fish manitou and some others in that area. don't get up there as much as i like to, my father in law lives in the falls and gets up there a lot more than I. superbee
The outfitter with a cabin on Pipestone said that he went up the lake the other day and there was lots of slush all over. He said it is coming to the surface and that there is not much snow on the large lakes that freeze last, when they get a good cold snap he figures alot of the slush will freeze. Without that he said he wouldn't recommend doing nuch travelling towing any sleighs with even a lighter load. Let's hope for some cold weather. He has been posting an ice report on his HSOforum and posts any changes in the conditions. It might help you out for the Manitou.www.gnofishing.com
cedarnarrowsguy
Superbee,,,,you planning to go for trout on the opener? If so, let me know how how traveling went. superbee
I think I'm going to wait for a little bit as well. Let some of the locals and others fight the slush. They'll get some of it packed & broke up, then when it turns cold there will be a good main trail anyway. If I do go I'll keep you updated.
