Blueman

Recommended Posts

Just got my Lowrance h20c and now looking to get a chip. Anyone use this one or can refer me to a good source? I have looked at the lakemaster stuff, seems ok... ANY tips/help would be appreciated. Kind of new to the GPS world...have seen friends with GPS and they tell our group where to go and drill, I'd like to learn how to myself now...thanks in advance.

Fransisco,

Only one way to go if you're mainly fishing Minnesota lakes and that is Lakemaster. Your zooming capabilites are much better and the maps are pretty much the same. Just my .02. Feel free to call me if you would like to take a look at in person before you buy, as it looks like we are both located in Eagan. 651-247-6053

I'll echo Paul's comments regarding Lakemaster. I have has the Minnesota series on my PC for a couple years now, and have used it to upload waypoints tom my battered old Garmin GPS III. The accuracy was good on the older DNR survey lakes, and excellent on the lakes that Lakemaster has resurveyed.

I just got a iFinder H20 color GPS last week, and bought the Lakemaster Minnesota chip for it. As Paul mentioned, the zoom function is amazing. I was messing around with the 3 foot contours of Ottertail Lake and was amazed at the accuracy. I will give it the shakedown on the ice this weekend.

I do mainly fish Minnesota lakes and yes, Paul..I proabably will call if thats ok. Lots of questions. As I mentioned earlier...I do have freinds who use it and it works slick..I would like to learn myself if you know what I mean. Does the lake master stuff come on a disc or a chip? It seems nicer if it was on a chip versus having to download stuff from a CD onto your unit. Keep the good reply's coming.

I have both and they both have their strong points. If I could only have one then I would go with the Lakemaster because of the zoom capabilities. Something I heard the other day is “Navigate with Navionics, locate with Lakemaster”. That is pretty much how I have been using my set up.
