lx-1 flasher

Im looking to buy a used lx-1 flasher , are theyicefishing units or are they originally for open water fishing.I saw one that looked like my lx-3 case wise and stuff but was wondering what they all are equipped with for features . The marcum HSOforum has only a description for the open water units

The LX-1 is the bare bones unit. 1500 watts of power, no zoom, 3 color display. The equivelent of the vex Fl-8. The lx-1 is a great unit, just doesnt have the bells and whistles.
