Rope lighting

Was out at the Gander in Forest Lake and they had a few in stock but they may be gone soon. I would check out some of the local bait shops who sell fish houses to see if they have any. Most cases they run about the same price.

I mounted my lights on the pole thats directly above the seats. From what I seen by sitting in the shack in a pitch black setting, the lights will give enough light to see the holes quite well and also be able to take care of knots and other misc. things. Mounting it here, I can also run the wire down this pole, so it easier to reach the removable console, where I keep my extra vexilar battery to run the lights. When not in use, I put the extra wiring into the side mesh pocket.

Makes good sense, Thanks for the input. What portable are you using? I plan on putting a flat mounting plate for the battery just behind the pole bracket to make it more accessible for a quick change if needed. Had mounted a rod bracket just in front of that for easy access to the rods.

I bought the rope light from Cabelas in Rogers and took it back the next day as it was not even close to what I wanted for light. I had it on a new 12V gel battery but still did not give enough light. I just was sick of the smell from my unleaded gas lantern and wanted to try something less toxic.

I've heard good things about the new rope lights sold by the 'Clam' fish house company. I ordered some last week-end so I haven't tried them yet. They're supposed to be really bright LCD's. The inside of my insulated portable is white, so these should reflect light fairly well. I'm getting really anxious to try my new fish house out on the ice, hopefully next month. wink.gif
