Deer (big game) hunting in wind

The value of forums like this can be seen in the recent postings regarding deer hunting in the wind. I responded to a post and recited my experiences and the wisdom I had gathered from others, including management biologists, concluding that deer -and other big game animals-did not like to move in the wind, but instead were inclined to hold tight. I never saw my post again so someone must have taken extreme exception to it (LOL) but there was quite a follow-up discussion relating various experiences in which hunters stated just the apparent opposite.

Just goes to show there are no "rules" when we deal with wildlife.

I do agree. In my experience hunting the thick woods of MN and across WI I agree with what you say. I hardly ever see deer move on the windy days unless they are forced to. Better yet, when it's windy, I move to them.
