Have you ever heard of such a thing?

Got the info on a banned goose i shot back. I knew it was old because of the ware on the band and the fact that it had no number or web site only a write to Washington D.C. message. Well the information I recieved today said that bird was tagged in 1989 and hatched in 1988 or earlier. I was just wondering have you ever heard of a bird being this old or is this some what of a common occurance?

17 is definitely and old goose, but I believe the oldest goose on record was somewhere around 25. I know I remember reading that the oldest bird was a canvasback at 29 years old. You definitely got a good one though.
