ND Jig Head
They look great in my portable. A brite neon glow - enough light to tie knots but not as bright as a colman gas lantern. I think they will be perfect.
Green&Gold
So do you just attach them to the pole running along the top of your house? Maybe use zip ties? Then I would assume a cord would hang off of one end with clips you could attach to a sonar Battery. The I would also assume you can completely fold up the house and the rope light wouldn't get in the way? Sorry for all of the questions, but this sounds like a really nice idea and would eliminate having to lug around a lantern all of the time. Thanks for the help! captkev
I'm not shure how they work or are attached, I drive truck for a liveing, and I picked up some white leds at a truck stop, (I think they are dome lights) then I drilled small holes in the tubeing and ran my wire thew, fastened the lights with self taping screws and put a clip on the other end of the wire to hook it up to the batt. The lights draw .03 amps and run for days on a 12v. I love this set-up, the wire is out of the way and there is nothing hanging in the way, and no glare in the corner of your eyes either. prophet
they will run for 24 hrs on depth finder battery, looks like they just hang over pipes in ceiling,i would plan to just lay them on the floor on one side of the house,i wouldnt fasten them to pipes as i think it would be a problem when folding up unit and putting away
B@ssmaster
Two thoughts on this. First, I have a buddy with his light ropes attached to his house poles, no problems with anything when folding the house. (he runs two strings I think, seems to put out enough light for general use.) Second, I am an electronic technician by trade, so I made myself a set of superbright LED "spotlights". These consist of groups of about 20 leds mounted in a small box, one over each hole of my portable. I secured these to the house pole with a couple of tie wraps and ran the wires down a pole to the "boat" portion of the house. I connect to an older 12 volt battery, they run for hours. I did this instead of the rope lights just because they are bright enough to tie line by with my aging eyes. They can be rotated easily to keep them from shining down the holes and onto whatever I am working on. I also have a single flourecent bulb in the center of the house for general lighting, again I run it off the same battery. I put a switch on each wire lead just above my seat, so I can turn any/all of them on or off at will. Whole system works great. I still carry my propane in the truck for emergencies, but to date I have not needed it with this system (one full season under my belt with this setup.)
