Favorite Bluebill Decoy

Recommended Posts

What's your favorite brand of Bluebill Decoys?

G&H, Greenhead Gear, Flambeau, Carrylite, Cabela's (real image), Herters (Foam, Millenium, Burlap??)

I'm thinking of adding another dozen but some of the brands don't even look like Bluebills.

I like the GHG but I wish they weren't "lifesize", I would like the dekes to be a tad larger. The G&H's aren't bad along with the Cabela's & Herters models. I think I'm leaning towards the Herters dekes with the realistic paint jobs (Millenium) on them.

Right now, we use some older Flambeau's or Carrylites (can't remember) with a flow through aqua keel and I really like the shape of those decoys. Of course they are over 25 years old and are no longer made.

Looking for weighted keels preferably as well.

My favorite is G&H weighted keel. I have three dozen and I'll be adding another dozen.

For late season bills it's not uncommon for me to hunt in high winds and big waves. The weighted keels perform wonderfully.

I also have Carrylites water keel(or Flambeau...I can't recall), they work ok but if I were to buy over again I would stick with the G&H.

Most of my bills are flambue magnums. They look OK and seem to be tough enough to take a few stray BB's. crazy.gif They have a wieghted keel so they ride nice too. they don't have quite the detail of the GHG or herters or G&H but they fool the ducks.

G&H are my favorite duck decoy out there...we have some magnum cans and bluebills and they can be seen from a long way off. Also have a dozen flambeau bills that are pretty nice as well. Can't wait for tomorrow--haven't hunted since tuesday!

I like G&H bills.. spendy, but they look great and last forever. The paint doesnt get chipped up and I like the turning head option. They are heavy.. but you can throw them a mile when setting out the dekes.

I need to stock back up on them.. I am dreading the thought of $90/dozen(ouch)

Any of you guys like Quack Decoys??

They have a solid rubber body on them. Essentially industructable, self healing from stray pellets, etc. I'm not sure on the weight of them but I'd have to imagine they weigh a little more that a plastic decoy. My opinion is a heavier decoy rides a lot better, or naturally in the water. Don't have to worry about them getting too shot up either.

They look like they have a pretty decent looking Bluebill decoy as well.

I like real ones cool.gif This BB came in under the radar so it got a free pass. It swam with them for about 1/2 hour until she got chased when I blasted at another bunch. Provided some nice entertainment as it preened and fed among the 9 motionless cheapo BB dekes.
