I bought a boat from my friend a couple years ago for $3000. I didn't have the money so he said I could just make payments whenever I had some, no interest.
Well, I bought a new crestliner and am selling the old boat to my Brother-in-law, for the same deal. Just make payments. But I need to know what its worth now to be fair to both of us. I'd rather error in his favor.
It's an 87 tracker guide series v-16. 35h merc, 36lb thrust elect troll mtr, old eagle depth finder, POS bunk trailer.
The boat has rotting wood. The starter on the motor went bad and it needs a prop. The depth finder finds depth but not real reliable fish finder. The electric motor runs ok.
Can you give me an idea what the fair market value is. I figure somewhere between 1800 and 2k. Is that low?
I originally told him he could pay me the same $3000 minus whatever it costs him to fix the motor and rotten wood, but that gives him no incentive to do the work himself.
