I am a novice when it comes to this kind of thing and before I bite the bullet and get the repair man out to my home, I thought I'd try here first. I noticed this a.m. that my home furnace is making a moderately loud high-pitched whistling sound. The unit is a 90% H.E. Amana "Air command" gas furnace, approx. 10 years old. The whistling sound is audible only when the flame (not the pilot) is being produced. Filters are changed regularly fyi if that matters. Any folks out there have any suggestions as to what could be happening. Should I be concerned? Any suggestions as to what I might be able to try to remedy the situation? If this helps, I changed insurance companies recently and they sent a gentlemen out to my home to perform an inspection. I was with him while he looked at the furnace and he claimed everything looked extremely clean with no signs of rust, build up or condensation. Any and all help is welcomed.
