Dan Thiem
I know this has been brought up in the past, but I was wondering if anybody knows where I could give a bunch of older (not junk) rods and reels. Not collectables, just out dated stuff collecting dust. Some tackle too. There has to be some inner-city programs that are looking for some stuff aint there? Boys clubs and other programs like that.I'm sure everyone that reads FM would have an old rig they could donate.
woodman
Dan- I am going to be starting a fishing club at Red Lake Elementary this school year. I was going to post a note on here for old dusty working gear for my students. I am working with the CO's on the Reservation with this, and they are all for it. They said they will help out as much as possible. We also have a bass club in Red Lake that I'm sure could use some gear also. If you want to mail them to me send them to Scott Hanson (woodman) Hwy 1 Red Lake Elementary Red Lake, MN 56671 our HSOforum that I created for the school is www.paulbunyan.net/rles check it out and thanks for any contributions you may give to this new club at school. cableguy031
I have a couple of old rods, not sure if they'll work or not, but they're not junk. I came with the boat I bought from an old man who swears by his fishin' pole from the mid '70s. I didn't have the heart to tell him about my Shimano Rod and Reel baitcaster and my St. Croix spin rod. If you're gonna use for a good cause, you're welcome to come and take them. It might need a tiny it of work, I've not touch it since the day I bought the boat. FOOT
Dan, not trying to cut in on Red Lake but in the future Quarry Hill Nature Center in Rochester might be interested. I also picked up a couple of Mec 600 Jr shotgun shell reloaders (one 12ga - one 20ga) plus hulls, primers, shot etc. in a large job lot box at an auction. I wanted something else in the box so I donated them to the Sportsmens Biology class at John Marshall High School. Just another possibility. On top of that, I want them to, all of them, and all the tackle and some money, and some certificates for McDonalds!
