north central nd duck reports

Not looking for any spots, just wondering how waterfowl are doing. Numbers? Been two years since I've been there and it was pretty dry then. More water now?

Don't know about north cnetral, just returned from south central and there is more water than I think I have seen in the 6 years we have been going out there. The ducks are there but we found them harder to hunt. Was was happend with all the water, new potholes have formed, new potholes = no cover, and that is were we found the birds. 4 or 5 hundred mallards using a one acre pothole with nowwhere to hide a hunter and a dog. That and the fact there is more water makes them less concentrated. We still got into them, just not like usual. But on the other hand is was nice to see all that breeding habitat.

I saw a good amount of ducks from Devils Lake through Towner along US 2. After the snow melt, the sloughs and potholes filled up. While we were pheasant hunting, we drove by a pothole (about the size of a large garage) by an edge of a field filled with malards every time we went by.
