Welcom to FM. If you're talking about tying line to lures the Palomar is the best and easiest I use. A lot of times with some lures I use the old fishermans knot but it isn't the best but works most of the time. If you're talking about tying line to the spool I use three over hand knots, never failed me, I bet there's better ways that an old boyscout may know but that's what I use. I think it would be physically impossible for the palomar to be tied on a baitcaster spool.

The problem I've always run into in using knots to affix line to a baitcaster spool is the "lump" that the knot creates as the spool loads up. I read a tip recently that recommended using a short piece of electrical tape to attach the line to the spool. Crank slowly for the first ten turns or so then you don't have to worry about it coming loose. No more lump...

Don't know that I can describe this well but I will try. First, I put 1 wrap of black electrical tape on the spool so the line doesn't slip. Wrap the line around the spool. With the tag end, tie a loose overhand knot around the main line - so the main line is runnning through the loop. Tighten the over hand knot gently. Tie a triple overhand knot in the tag end - like a regular overhand knot but go through the loop twice. Snug that knot up. Now tighten up on the main line. The tag end shold slip through until the triple overhand locks against the spool knot.

This is called an Arbor knot
