trapping bobcat

would anybody be willing to give alittle advice on what type of set works good on trapping these cats? and what a guy should use for bait or a call scent. I have been after these for 3 years with no success, i just want one to hang up with all the other pelts i have.

To be totally honest with you the bast bait for these critters is venison parts but it is illegal, so the next best bait is your typical roadkill dead housecat slit the belly, hang it in a cubby set, smoked fish skins work too, the only problem with these baits is that you'll catch fisher and pine marten also........good luck!!

Back when I was a youngster and trapped more up-nort the only time I ever trapped bobcats were in my fox sets. I never really went after cats, however. And, I've only trapped a few of them.

Having said all that stuff, the sets that I got my cats in were your plain jane dirt hole sets. I'd also place a few traps in a circle about 10' diameter around the dirt hole. These are the traps I got the cats in.

when you said you placed traps outside of the dirt hole set in a circle did you place them on a hump or anything higher than the surrounding groud or was it all the same level? Thanks for the info

I tried to put them on humps if they were around. Otherwise I just kind of spaced them out.
