Browning a-bolt 300 win mag rifle

I have an A-bolt in .30-06 and think it's a great gun. Very accurate, very durable, and I like the weight and feel of the gun. I also have a .300 win mag for the big guys out west but it is a Remington. Personally I prefer the A-Bolt.

I don't own it but have shot my brother's several times and am considering buying one myself.

Accuracy is good, but don't go cheap on a scope.

What surprised me is the amount of recoil, or lack thereof. The gun I am talking about does have the BOSS system on the muzzle and that helps, but it also is a little heavier than a lot of guns, which helps cut down the kick. This extra weight, even though it is only a pound or so, can drag on you if you carry it all day.

One other thing: With the BOSS on any Browning, hearing protection is highly recommended. BOSS has a warning sticker right on it and that thing is LOUD.

Just my 2 cents for the day.

I'd look into the short magnum. I know two people who were former owners of the full 300 mag, but switched after field firing the short mag. Ballistics are very close, but much less recoil and the gun is a tad lighter.
