The Shallows...

Brrr.. she was a cold one this morning.... but I still ventured out onto the lake in search of some musky action.... where I was pleasantly suprised with some great action.

I moved a lot of fish today, for me anyways... where I boated three with 6 more sighted.... The biggest hit the ruler at 42" and the others just shy of 40".

Interesting is that I seen more fish in shallow water, 5 feet or less, with only one of the smaller fish mentioned boated. But caught two suspended in deeper water adjacent to structure, while jigging Sumo Chubby Darters.

A lot of the shallow fish were hot on the lure, but would just follow once, could never get them to come back. One big girl was smoking behind a Llungen Tail and I thought she would chomp at the bit, but as musky fishing goes, she changed her mind as I was running out line. What a sight though, seing the top of her head pushing a wake as she nosed closer and closer.

I am thinking they were just up in that skinny water for the warm water, as I didnt see any bait fish or even available cover at times in their locations.

No other fish seen in deeper haunts, in this clear water chain of lakes.

Same deal tonight on the water, the fish sat right on top of the weed beds in the skinny stuff.

I blew one bad tonight, four circles at boatside and just as she started to chomp I banged the side of the boat with the rod and she was off like a rocket. Stupid fish! Stupid fisherman!
