Hey i am new to this area (Stevens Point) and i was wondering if i could get some info on the hunting around here. I came from Northern Minnesota and am totally unfamiliar with this country. If someone could take me under their wing it would be greatly appreciated

I am trying to plan a hunt on public land for the 06' rifle season, but when i went to the Wisconson DNR site it didn't say much about the non-resident tags. Do you have to apply for a lottery tag or is it an over the counter deal??? Any help would be great

I'm assuming you are talking about deer. I have just purchased an over-the-counter tag the last few years. They seem to take a different approach than the MNDNR (at least the last time I hunted here several years ago) in that they protect the bucks more than does.

no, there's no lottery in WI. Just pay your money and take your chances on bagging a buck. (or doe, if you like, or four or five if you want to buy the extra doe tags). The only quotas there are are area quotas for anterless, and that really seems like the sky's the limit there, also.

In different zones in wisconsin there are earn a buck tags, cwd(cronic wasting disease) zones, T-zones (either sex) and some you can get many bonus tags. It can get pretty confusing if you dont know what DMU (deer managment unit) you are in. As far as prices, they are all the same except if you want extra tags for doe.
