I have a '86 Evinrude (OMC) shift console directional/velocity lever that jams up when trying to shift into reverse. I popped open the gear case last fall. Inside this case is a combination of gears and levers that control the velocity and direction of the motor. I noticed that the plastic gear that allows the motor to go into reverse got a divot out of it so that when you try shifting into reverse, the lever gets stuck in this divot instead of sliding over the top of the gear.
I figured at the time, I was storing the boat away the following weekend and would worry about it come next Spring so I never looked into things any further. Question I have is can I purchase just an individual gear for these units or would I have to purchase the entire gear/shift setup? What is the proper name of this unit so that I can better describe to a parts dealer what I am looking for?
Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe. I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho. Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there. About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway. Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work. You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water. When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
