Older Polaris 250 VIN Number... where is it on the frame?

I was given an older Polaris 250. I need to get some parts, but the one Polaris dealership I called said they needed the VIN. I cannot find it. Any idea where on the frame it would be imprinted?

Newer machine VIN# is engraved on the driver side, mid-front area, on the outside side of the tube frame. If you understand that Older machines may be in the same location. I can't remember.
