gas smell

Question

I own an '03 smoker craft stinger and just noticed that when I open the front compartment I can smell gas any ideas? I'm thinking that a vent line might be lose or cracked because I dont have any gas in the bilge. How hard is it to get to the lines on this boat?

My boat also has this and so do many others. At 1st I thought it was the glue they use for the vinal on the floor of the compartments but I think after 2 summers that would be gone. Im sure it is a gas smell now. I dont see anything wrong in my boat but I sure wish it would go away. My raingear etc. stinks when I pull it out. Yuck!

I've heard of that problem too and after inspection not finding any problems. Could possible be the smell is leeching through the plastic tank. Still I'd check it out. Not sure on the location with your boat but many inboard tanks have the fittings and hoses near the transom. Should have a filler hose, vent hose and fuel line.
