I've really only tinkered with the Dr Juice tournement bass scent and am convinced it helps, even with power baits. Just curious what your favorites are for BASS and if you agree they increase your catch.

Ohh boy.. I am really sorry if this gets a tad long.. but please hear me out!

Scents- Are deffinatly good, however, only if a fish can taste or smell them. For a fish to be able to smell something it must be water soluable. Anotherwords, disolved in water. Many of todays scents are oil based, and with that fact fish can not smell them. As oil and water are not too frinedly. Fish/bass can tasted an oil base. yet cant smell them. So if you have a oil based scent on your lure the fish may or may not hold on to your lure longer because of the scent. However, that scent will not attract the fish and make it bite!

So, in my opinion, will you catch more fish by putting a scent on your lure. Maybe? On lures like crankbaits, spinnerbait, topwater ect, the answer is NO... but if you are missing fish because you missed the hit, then maybe yes! On windy days when its hard to feel a bite I think scent on lures like carolina rigs and texas rigs and jigs are a deffinate help. THe fish hold on longer and thus you have more time to set the hook.

Lastly, I use no scent on my lures, I use Exude soft plastics. They are only 10% plastic and 90% water soluable scent.. ones the fish can smell and taste.

Deitz I agree 100% with you. I rarely use scent and when I do its because the fishing is so tough that I dont think it could hurt to use it. I am mainly a jig fisherman and finding a trailor that the Poc'it Dad as a trailor has worked awsome for me this year.
