Installing TV in the fishhouse?

I have a 19" TV I would like to hang in the corner of my fishhouse. Is there a way to hold it there when towing on the ice? What about the TV getting frozen and hot over and over, will that hurt the TV.

JJ: I have a TV in my fish house, and the temp changes don't seem to effect it. I do let it warm up thoroughly before in turn it on. You need to get the condensation from the inside first in the winter after it's been in the cold. I bought a TV wall mount at Menards for $25 or there abouts, and use two bunge cord to hold it in place. I travel on the hiway at regular speeds, including the bumps, and never had it fall off. You do need to be sure it is re-enforced to the wall. I also have one of the cords hooked to the ceiling just for extra precautions. Is it a 12vdc model or are you using a inverter?? I haven't seen 19" 12vdc models.. A small Honda Generator would work better than draining the batteries with a inverter... Kaz

KAZ Thanks for the info. My house is 2x3 studs 16" on center, do you think they will hold the TV? Did you re-enforce the holder or the wall, and how? I plan on using a little generater for power. The TV is old and has no sound, but it will hook up to my underwater camera so everybody wil be able to see whats down there.

JJ: 2x3 studs will be plenty strong enough. I'd use probaby 1/4x2 lag screws though. My wall are only 2x2 and my set is a 13", so that's why I reinforced it with the ceiling strap. Also I pull mine behind the truck, down the hiway too. Later on you may want to get a set to watch the football and other stuff. Most of the outlying areas are on UHF channels. LOTW TV comes from transponders south of Baudette or Williams. Their in the channels 50/59. One with a VCR or DVD is also nice to watch that if you have any small children along... THE ICE COMETH... Do you guys or anyone you know use a satellite TV dish?? If you folded it down and bungeed it, could you tow it down HWY?? How about security...would this advertise for break in? I guess I'm just fishing for some ideas. Thanks.

I have a TV and a dish in mine. My TV is on a corner shelf that I built. I bungee the set to the shelf when going down the road. Yes, make sure your heat has been on for a couple of hours before turning on the tube or condensation inside will fry the electronics.

When going down the road my dish is inside the house. It's held onto the roof by magnets. My house is on a lake that I don't worry about theft. Pretty much as the houses out there are all occupied by my neighbors and we look out for each other and there hasn't been a problem. If it were in a more highly populated spot or an area with more crime(best word I can come up with) I'd definately take the dish down when I left.

Thanks Boiler. Magnets...now there's an idea. I suppose you could take the dish down and store in house when your not using it. But that would be a pain in the arse to set-up and retune each time you came out to the house. My "home" lake will be in the TC burbs so security is difinitelly an issue. I will take the reciever with me each time though. Do you use a lock when you stick it on the magnets? WOuld speaker magnets work?

I got a set of magnets from McMaster Carr for only a couple bucks. It took longer to find the ones I needed on their web site then it did to hook them up. I don't know why speaker magnets wouldn't work. They're pretty strong.

It's really not that difficult to tune in. With magnets holding the dish down you can swivel it around pretty easily. I keep the coaxial cable end outside so all I have to do is screw it in and I'm watching football!!!!
