The ice fishing section is getting more popular. This can only mean one thing!

IT'S ALMOST TIME!!

Well, not quite, but I am getting jittery just thinking about first ice. Granted, first ice is a little earlier when you have a hovercraft, but one thing's for sure, it's coming. Yes, this is a little early! lol

I've started working on the ice house again getting it ready for the new season. I replaced the dinette with a back bench just a couple of days ago. As it turns out, the dinette made it harder to fish. There was nothing to lean back against when facing the hole, and the table got in the way, so instead I've made a bench that'll fold out into a bed with storage inside. It's amazing how much more room there is doing that. Going from a 44" dinette to a 22" bench. 22 inches is a lot when dealing with only 13'!

Next on the list is to remake the pivot for the drop axle. I designed the pivot a little too weak, so throughout last season, the wheels bowed progressively inward. What happened is that the pivot hole on the arm (what the axle's attached to) started oblonging. The pin was just too small so that the force on the steel was too great for such a little area. The new pivot will be about 1 5/8" dia. where as the old one was only 1/2".

Lets see, what else. Ahh yes, new siding, but we don't have to get into that one. One look at the ice house will explain that.

I'm looking at buying a second flasher for the house. Right now, Shawny B and I are using an LX-3. I'd like to add an LX-1 after a bit. 1 flasher doesn't cover the whole house. I'm also in the market (soon anyway) for a few new fishing combos. Looks like it's research time again.

There's probably more, but we all know how that goes. So is there anyone else getting an early start for the best season of the year?!
