Minn-kota Hesitation

gunflint

Question

I have a 55# transome mount Maxxum. It's started to hesitate when I give it throttle. I alternate between 2 different batteries. It seems worse with the older battery. The lower the charge the worse it gets. Is this normal or should I contact Minn-Kota while it's still under warranty?

Hey gunflint--

It's definitely a problem with the trolling motor. I bought the exact model in the spring of '04 and by fall it was hesitating just like yours. I took it to a minn kota service center and the guy replaced the soft pod. Afterwards, it worked perfectly again with no hesitation. I used it a lot that fall right up until freeze up.

I couldn't hardly believe it, but this spring it started cutting out on me again. So back to the service center I went. This time he said something about replacing the whole board along with the soft pod. It's working great again right now and I hope it stays that way.

Thankfully, mine was under warranty also.
