beretta
Hey boys Im thinking about getting a new boat (if I can get rid of the one I have now). Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on what style. Im going to get a Crestliner because I can get it for cost through work. My budget is an issue as I will be going to college this fall (you remember how it is ) I am going to keep my old motor (35 horse) and put it on this boat to save some money. I am going to use this boat for fishing and hunting on bigger water. I have been looking at this one- Heres the specs- Specifications Length 16' (4.9m) Beam 75" (191cm) Bottom width 52" (132cm) Side depth 21" (51cm) Modified V hull 6° Deadrise Number of ribs 12 Approx. hull weight 360# (161kg) Maximum HP capacity 35 Max. people capacity 5 Max. weight capacity 1155# (513kg) Aluminum hull gauge .100" Transom height 20" (51cm) My concern is that it wont handle rough water as well as say the Canadain or some other v style hull boat. What do you guys think? Does anyone have this style boat? How do you like it? Thanks for any help you can give me. I really appreciate it!

scott-z
I have a 17' Chrestliner john boat with a 40hp Yamaha 4 stroke on it. It is the same style boat that you are looking at and I am very pleased with it. It is very comfortable to fish out of and I feel safe in big water. I generally hunt Leech Lake and I had it up on Rainy Lake fishing this summer. I purchased an Avery blind for it, which makes it nice to hunt out of with the kids. beretta
Hey Duffer- I have a 16 ft Bass tracker that I have painted in camo, put a new floor in and did it in truck bed liner so its tough and has some traction, livewell, gun/rod locker, new transome. It is a nice wide boat. I have used it for hunting and fishing. It would be a great boat for a college kid. If your still interested let me know. My email is [email protected] Im asking 3500 for the boat and trailer but I am willing to deal. I am keeping my motor but I work at a boat dealer and could probably get you a good deal on a used one.If your still interested let me know. beretta
Thanks for the repy scott. Have you been in any rough water? Or just on big water. I really think it would be a sweet rig for hunting and work just fine for fishing. Thanks again. I will let ya'll know what I come up with. scott-z
I have had it on some pretty rough water on Leech and it has handled it well. It is kind of rough, just because it is such a light rig, but it handles the waves just fine.
