Anyone been on Leech?

Recommended Posts

Heading up to leech august 3rd thru the 7th and wondering if anyone has been up there this year and having any luck in Portage? Haven't been up there yet this year and was curious as to whether anyone was seeing anything, or if the usual July pickup is happening bitewise.

Thanks for the replies guys, I am usually up there several times a year but the birth of our second curtain climber in june has kept me local. I am after skis as usual with the nightly foray into crank trolling for walleye as a rest after hucking baits all day. Just wondering as i have not heard many reports. Just hoping it isn't as slow as mille lacs has been this year.

My network of super secret fish spies tell me that the fish are there and moving to some extent but not like they should be. If my boat and truck are put back together by this weekend (the insurance company loves me) I'm going up there to check it out.

I fished Saturday and Sunday and it's still slow. We saw alot (8-10) fish just laying right under the surface in the weed beds, they didn't react to lures and when they were spooked by the boat or our lures or in one case the line falling across their back after a cast the would take off in an explosion of water. Strange. We did see more active fish on rocks than in weeds. The cabbage seems to be turning brown. Also tried trolling Walker bay as we found some large schools of bait, Nada. I would like to hear what others find in the next few weeks.
