Most all units on the market have some amount of overkill as to the options they include. My guess is that 90% of the capabilities on any unit do not get used. Things to look for include what type of maps the unit can read and ease of operation. Most important for me is a color screen and large enough to view from a distance. Good Luck

TUNA- Ask yourself what kind of features/options you want on a sonar/GPS finder and start looking at the different companies as to what they make. Of course you probably know as you get more features, the more power the unit, the color vs. non-color you will start paying more $$$.

I know you can't go wrong with the Lowarance units.

Eagle Fish Elite 500c is a good sonar/gps combo. It is simple to use, respectable power and graphics, and it is a color unit for under $600. $549.99 from the dealer I work for. Take a look at the 500c and compare it to other color sonar/GPS combos and I think you will be amazed at what you are getting. Eagle is built by Lowrance so you will be getting all the Lowrance quality, just not all the extras.

I bought the Lowrance LMS 480 so far I'm not too pleased. I also bought the Hot maps premium chip to go in it, but cant seem to pull up my lake. I'm lost. I guess I have to just keep pushin buttons till I figure it out. Thanks for the advise. MILTUNA
