JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE CAN GIVE ME SOME POINTERS ON LOCATING LARGEMOUTH IN MILFOIL-SOME OF MY (HONEY HOLES)

THAT HAD CURLY LEAF ,CRISPUS NO LONGER SEEM TO HOLD FISH NOW THAT THE MILFOIL HAS TAKIN OVER HOWEVER I RECENTLY LOCATED THESE FISH APPROX. 15O YARDS AWAY ,IS THERE SOMETHING ABOUT MILFOIL THAT BASS SEEM TO KEY IN ON OTHER THAN A HARD BOTTOM AND A CLEAN EDGE .

ANY INPUT WOULD BE APPRECIATED

No. An edge or bottom content change is always something you want to look for no matter what vegetation (or lack thereof) is involved.

Bass do like the canopy that milfoil can provide. They can cruise what looks like an underground tunnel system. However, they will not be there in numbers unless there is some other draw. Bottom content changes really make for some great milfoil spots. However, usually when the bottom changes so will the density of the milfoil. In some cases, it disappears.

Treat milfoil like any other weed. There is no magic drawing power to it or any special thing to look for in the plant structure itself. The fish will still orient themselves to edges, bottom content transitions, depth changes. Milfoil, to me, is just another weed. Just another piece to analyze in the bass fishing puzzle.

Ray very well put. I have had days when Ive caught fish on one patch, and another patch within 100 yds the next day. Why I dont know? About all you can do is eliminate sections of lake and just go fishing.
